Manager House Rules
Do you guys use any sort of house rules while managing in-game?
For instance, the AI doesn't shift a lot, so do you do the same? Do you refuse to ever use pitch-by-pitch mode since it could give you an advantage against certain situations such as playing your 3B in until there are 2 strikes, or holding runners, or throwing over on more than just a 0-0 count (perhaps the AI does do this one at least)? I'm curious also as to what the game does do (AI), and how to keep the playing field fair. Thanks!

I play by Wizard of Oz House Rules.
1) Find House 2) Drop House on Opponent 3) Victory! I realize this is not particularly helpful for you, but the answer is "no" for me. I shift for every pull hitter, while the AI seems to never do this for RHH Pull Hitters. I can't tell definitively if I'm helping myself very much by doing so, but I refuse to leave a possible tactical benefit unused. |

My house rule is to manage my team as closely to "reality" as possible.
Meaning, such things as limiting the innings of young pitchers, almost always have my injured SP's make a rehab start or two, with low pitch count limits. I don't abuse the lack of the 10 day rule (minor league assignment). So, all sorts of little things like this. Plus, always adhere to real rules such as minor league roster sizes, etc. Anything that wont give me an advantage over the team management AI. Lot's of little things like this, most of which are obvious at the time. |

Have one house rule: no house rules. If it's in the game, it's in the game. Beyond that, I just ensure my initial settings provide me the world in which I want to play, as well as having its few surprises.

Nicely said. Win however you can. If the game allowed me to use cork bats and spitballs I would

My only house rule is not to make a trade that I would not make if I was the GM of the other team.
My ability to dominate the OOTP AI has decreased significantly since v13. The results speak for themselves.
