Insane Pitching Staff

Here's a very impressive AI-constructed staff. There have been injury concerns with Villanueva and McCoy, but if this staff stays healthy, it's some scary stuff.

Very solid defensive team as well, it seems like. I love teams who pitch and field their way to victory. If I have the resources, I build teams like this over offensive teams all the time. That said, 6th in runs scored isn't exactly a pushover offense either.

Yep, this is how I build as well. Of course, that makes it all the more maddening when a) they don't get any run support, or b) my starter has a day where he can't seem to find the plate or prevent solid contact.

Wow, if I was facing them, I'd go into the manager's office and be like "my hammy is a little tight, I think I should take this series off."

I'd argue there is no worse feeling than losing 1-0. Pitcher hurls a great game, but the lineup just can't find their grove. I had a season where my best starter went 14-14 with a 2.26 ERA, most of those losses by just one or two runs.

I had a playoffs series where my team scored one run in three games, or something like that. Positively brutal.

Pitching is definitely the key in this game. I don't know how many times I built a top offense only for them to go cold in October against amazing pitching staffs. Of course, when I built an amazing pitching staff to go along with it then winning was a breeze.
