What is the planned start date for 2016 (in OOTP17) ?

IIRC, the 2015 season with every league included in the game start date was roughly around the 20th of March. So I can get some games/templates ready, what is the listed start date for all leagues in the 2016 season for the new game?

It will most likely be the day before the CPBL or *** start, depending on which starts first.

So it's safe to say that the in-game date will be March 18, the same day the game comes out for pre-order customers?

The game start date depends on which leagues are in your game. It automatically gets set 2 days prior to Opening Day of the earliest league, so you have time to run an expansion draft or fantasy draft if you want.

Thanks Markus. One problem I've encountered a lot is when running expansion draft right out the gate, and taking over for 1 of 2 new expansion teams is that the 2nd expansion team (AI-controlled) doesn't fill its minor league rosters -- least not in the few days it has before its minor league seasons start. I then have to manually go and fill their rosters with fictional generated players. Will I need to do the same year?

Always a disappointment. No time for free agent signings for those who want to start a league from scratch without a draft.

Markus,

I'd imagine it's too late for this edition of OOTP, but in the future, are there any plans to have the start date in a game be earlier? Maybe early enough to have a Spring Training in the first season we play?

I sometimes have had free agent or coach contract offers out to available personnel, and the players or coaches don't accept or reject the offers until after the season has already started. This doesn't happen often, and in fact it's pretty rare, but it is annoying when it does?

The problem with this song think, is you wouldn't be able to really have accurate rosters.

Great point. However, it could just be an option. Not the default one of course. Obviously these are minor things in the grand scheme.

This should improve if you untick "advanced free agent signings". I can't remember exactly where it is located in the league settings but you shouldn't have trouble finding it.
