Computer Requirements for OOTP
I have a 2011 macbook pro (2.3 GHZ / Intel Core i5 / 4 GB Memory) and OOTP 16 on this takes about 2 minutes to advance one day in the season.
So my question is 2 parts: 1. What is the normal sim time to advance a day? 2. What kind of specs should I be looking for in newer laptops to run this game effectively? Any advice appreciated. |

MacBook Pro (Retina, 15-inch, Mid 2014)
2.2 GHz Intel Core i7, Memory:16 GB 1600 MHz DDR3, and 250 GB of Storage. Depending on your league size, mine is on the smaller side, it only takes 5-10 seconds, for me.... If it takes 2 minutes I think you may need an upgrade

And at least for OOTP 16 the system requirements were: Apple Mac minimum system requirements: Intel Processor, min. Mac OS 10.6, min. 1024x768 display, 2 GB RAM, at least 5 GB free HD space, OpenGL 1.4 or newer

If you're staying with mac Unfortunately we have to go to a minimum OS X version of 10.7 now. It used to be 10.6 but we are using certain Apple libraries in OOTP 17 which require 10.7 |

I preordered this title, Ive played the IOS versions before never a PC version. I am hopeful my system can handle. I run on a 5-6 year old HP laptop running windows 7 with an I5 with 4gb of ram.
Fingers crossed it performs well. |

Shouldn't be a problem. I've been beta testing on an old Vista desktop machine and a Windows 7 laptop and both run fine

It's a simulator, so processor speed and memory will make the biggest difference.
I'm really thrilled that my favorite video game now doesn't require a zippy video card (my 970gtx can take a nap for a while) and I can get up and get a cup of coffee while playing and I'm not going to miss any action ![]() |

I downloaded the demo of ootp 16 last night to experimentspeeds on my box. I didn’t enter a gameand play, rather messed around from a gm perspective and the menus seemssnappy. It does take a bit of time tosimulate a day, maybe 15-20ish seconds this could be normal on even the fastestIDK.
My small experience left me quite a bit overwhelmedtbh. I’m accustomed to the IOS version,I’ve never played the PC version before, it was soooo deep on PC. I sure hope there are some gm assistants thatcan be turned on and off to help get my feet wet when I begin with 17. |

2 minutes is a long time - if you are concerned about the runtime, I would suggest cutting back on the number of leagues in your game. For example, if you're playing a current setup, if you don't care as much about having the US independant leagues or Japanese leagues, eliminating them will speed up your game. Even something as simple as combining some of the lower level minor leagues can have a big effect. I know when I'm playing, I don't feel that I really need 4 single A teams, for example. Or if you want the leagues, even something as simple as disabling trading or finances in a league you don't care as much about can help speed up the game. Obviously 17 will be faster, but if you are looking for a new machine, as mentioned processor speed, disk speed, and RAM are the most useful pieces to look for. |

The problem is that my computer is an i7 with 16GB of RAM and is very very fast, but the shop a player and the "how do we make this trade feature" work slowly.
However they're going to be faster this version. In other words I'm not really convinced that there is a real requirement the game is definitely fast (faster than it used to be definitely) but there's really no way to know for this version an ideal computer set-up (speed and such) until we see the new features in action.
