Latest Update: Broken Multi-core?

My saves, "make this work now" in trades, shopping dudes, etc. are all SUPER slow lately. And before the update they were quite normal for this year (faster than previous years). Now they seem slower than any version of OOTP I've played. Anyone else having this problem?

It seems others are also having this issue.

get a program called coretemp or check in on windows resource monitor and look at the cpu load %s. (i assume resource monitor has this info)

during that time you can look and see if there is any load on each of your cores, or if it is something else causing the slowdown. if all cores are at idle levels, you know it's not he cpu being the bottleneck and if it is using more than one core as your settings dictate. if you see just one core doing something, you might be right, etc etc....

Having the EXACT same issue, shopping a player just took 15 mins just now. And 100% CPU usage on all cores when monitoring, 99% of my CPU is also being used by OOTP. Temps aren't rising either like they normally would with 100% usage so it seems a bit odd.

I think I can relate this to my issue posted above. The suggestions may be worth a try but they did not improve my overall speed. Mine is more directed towards actually time it takes to sim a day as well as accessing certain screens. Front office tab and looking to extend a contract seems to take 5 or so seconds to pull up the screen. Did not have this issue prior to the hotfix released earlier this week.

i can tell you on my system, it's still using all the cores - i don't see 100%, ofc. it could be system specific.

The way you describe it affecting entering screens is odd.. what i suggest below probably won't help. try different scroll bars. i think the page selectors will help when accessing a page with a very large list.

just in case: the slow down i had was due to the game not removing news/transaction/injury info. it was 3x the size of my league! if you have these settings set to "keep none" turn it to "keep 2 years" and sim a year... then turn it back to "Keep None." (League settings -> Global settings).

i didn't just see an increase in auto save speed, my september was taking 33% of a year's sim time... that is better after i reduced the news log stuff.

You may want to keep all that stuff... but if your just testing and dinking around, go ahead and remove it for faster simulations.

hdd failures will start out this way... system seems fine but can lag etc if hdd goes into pio mode.. not very likely though.

Yeah it's not likely to be a hardware issue. SSD health is just fine, never had an issue in anything else. Also I'm still in year one on this specific game save. It IS using all cores but not properly it seems. Testing on Shopping player around went from 5 seconds to 15 mins post patch.

EDIT: For reference -Yes I do other gaming, definitely didn't build this for OOTP :-p

That is weird. The code did not change here one bit compared to the other upadte, shopping a player should still be the same. Please upload your league files and post the filename here, we'll take a look.

Edit: Just tested it here, works super fast on both PC and Mac. So, this seems to be a problem specific to certain league settings. I need your league files, please.

Hey Markus, I'll grab it in just a sec here. Just a quick question, is it the saved_games.dat that's only 1kb or is it all of the .dat files (players, coaches etc.) within the specific saved game folder?

EDIT: Nevermind I figure it's not the 1kb file of all things ha ha. Uploaded Gava_All Leagues.rar

edit: better idea... make a new game, without care, and shop a player... see if it's something carrying over due to a saved league?

shot in the dark...

really old games require a program to slow down a pc... maybe you need to hamstring your computer :P

i doubt it's that far beyond ootp, but who knows, lol.

OK, I tested this. The "issue" is some players draw more potential interest and hence take longer to field offers for. Others are nearly instant.

I will try to optimize this for patch #3.

I'm not sure if it was a rare occurrence, future shopping takes about 5 to 7 seconds at most now. But I shopped Elvis Andrus and it took 15 mins, had it happen one other time but don't recall who.

EDIT: I guess it just turns more into a shopping bug issue at this point? 15 mins was a bit long ha ha
