MVP Award

with the latest patch the reliever can now win MVP award, cool. but will it now be called Most Valuable Player when awarded or still Best Hitter?

Technically, the MVP award is a "best player" award in-game, but if you disable the ability for pitchers to win it then it's a de facto "best position player" award.

By default, pitchers can win and it is called Most Valuable Player when awarded.

Relievers have been eligible for it in the past. The only change that was done recently I believe is allow an option to disable the reliever from winning the Cy Young if you so desire that in your universe (plus a little bit of tweaking to make sure if it's allowed, they won't win quite so much and should only win when they have a truly amazing season).

what I mean guys is when a player win the MVP award his baseball card should read "Most Valuable Player" Award not "Best Hitter" Award

Ah, yeah, we can update that on BB cards.
*Note: you can edit that yourself if you just change the text in the bb_cards templates, in your game's data folder.

How can this be accomplished? In my fictional league the teams use stoppers, so the stud RPs rack up big numbers and end up winning POY a lot. Would like to make it happen less often

it's just something that they are changing in the game... either this pacth or a future one. i forget how it read at this point in changelog.

defintely like this tick box... since a position player can win the cy young, i don't like pitchers winning the mvp. just an opinion, and glad i don't have to watch it like a hawk... bound to forget on occasion then i have a reliever in the mvp history, lol.

Thanks, Matt. When I heard about the new option, I thought, okay, that's good, I guess, but I'd still like my relievers to have a chance at winning it, just that it be crazy rare for it to happen. So to hear that you did make that change as well is great!

It's interesting to look back at past years, before we had advanced statistics like WAR, and see how bad the voting was. Moseby and Stieb really stand out from that year (anti-Toronto bias?), but they're not the only ones.
