Purge message during offseason

I've noticed a couple times now with 17 that a message will display during the offseason, I'm thinking right after December 31st saying something about 0 something or other were deleted and (should have posted this yesterday when I seen it, so I could detail exactly what it said) and ends with instructions to select the Purge option from the database. Of course, when you read the warning about using the Purge option, it's rather scary to pull the trigger on doing so. Anyone else seeing this? If so, did you use the Purge option or just ignore it.

Mine isn't just happening during offseason though. Will happen fairly randomly all over the place.

I've had it happening in my game when I press page back button when my previous page was the league settings page.

What has me concerned is playing several years into a league and finding out it's a major issue. I've never seen this message in all my years of playing OOTP.

Sorry, looks like depending on how the league settings page opens up, this could happen. We'll be sure to include this fix in the hotfix planned for this week.

so, don't use the back button? glad i always select from menu, lol.

i do use the "back" button for leaderboard, though... otherwise it reloads everytime even though no time has passed and nothing onthe leaderboards could possibly change. this causees a crash on occasion to if you do it too quickly and frequently (at least as of '16, maybe 17?).

the purge function has always worked well for me... your retired numbers may need to be hand-edited to fix incorrect playerIDs. it's good to do after 50-100 years.. possibly sooner with an older computer if you notice a slow-down earlier, etc. (old would be pre-2010 relative to this game's requirements and a fairly cheap one, if 2009)

If you already have the "delete players who never reach the majors" checked, then it's not really a problem - the function that pops up essentially goes through and "re-does" that delete, catching any players missed. So it's useful if you didn't have that option on and want it on later.

It's only a problem if you do not want that functionality - in that case, yes, avoid the back button around the league settings page (or potentially simming while on that page, although I forget if that goes through the same logic) until the patch later this week.
