How managers are created

I have long wondered how coaches are assigned their strategies and preferences. i don't think it's random because i never see saber metric guys in earlier years. and what if my league was full of speedy no power guys. would the game still create managers that rely on power?

Good question. Hoping to see good answers.

For manually created managers - from retired players, they seem to follow similar attributes that they had when they were players, which makes sense.

For automatically generated players, I'm just as curious as you are.

Generally speaking, anyone who was a former player will tend towards their talents as a player. Obviously not 100%, but that makes sense and we lean that way.

Otherwise, we would basically pick a type and go with that. Saber-managers are locked so you won't see them created before saber became a thing, but otherwise everything is fair game.

That's interesting, I didn't know that about the saber guys. That makes me wonder. Say I have a manager that I can control his strategy. If I push his infield shifts all the way to the right in an era that shifting is very low, will he shift high for that era or will he shift as much as they do now?
