Developing alternative Positions

I was wondering if you could offer advice as to how to develop secondary position for young players.

My latest draft the I was able to get 2 highly rated SS. Offensively my higher choice had more CON vs more POW for the 2nd selection. Both had good ARM & TDP with average ERR. My first selection had more range but was rated worse at the position than my 2nd choice. Each was out of high school and both struggled (STRUGGLED) with rookie ball first season.

Is it possible to set it up where they will alternate between 2nd & SS? So that both can fully develop each position over the next 3 minor league seasons and if they both develop then the better shortstop stay at short?

Thank you for any help you can give me.

Well, guess it depends, are you the manager or GM? If you were the manager, you can easily set that up yourself. Or if you're GM, you can still probably set up the lineups for lower level teams if your manager on that team allows it. Can also try changing their position to something else, so they'll develop the skill playing that.

I have been doing GM only (which is frustrating) so I was unsure if there was a known way to develop the secondary position.

I'd force start each at SS for half of the season and 2B for half of the season. I think you can do that as GM-only.

If they are still struggling in rookie ball, plenty of time left to learn 2nd, 3rd and SS. Just switch them around from time to time.

Force start them both at 2B, 3B, and SS to give them experience at all three positions which will boost their fielding ratings.

How do you force start? Is this a manual game by game operation and so different form setting their positions?

Right click on the player, select "Set Game Strategy", and there should be an option to set them to a certain position in the lineup in the bottom left.
