It depends what you're offering. For instance, maybe adding a late round pick can change a GMs mind, or if you offered a pick, another one or slightly higher round may do it.

They may also be willing to swap prospects to help balance out a trade, etc.

Its next to impossible to gauge how much though, and there in lies the problem. Our assistant thinks its a good trade, but the opponent just folds their arms and says no. I have no way of gauging if a 3rd round pick will do vs. a 2nd or 1st, and it could take close to a week in game to determine which works.

I just tried trade deadline deals in Sandbox mode. Interestingly, "offer trade" was met with an immediate response but responses outside of draft day take days. Unfortunately, I didnt make a trade a day before the deadline to see if I got a response ON deadline day.

Also, I tried to trade Cory Schneider ($6m) for a few overpaid scrubs on the Ducks to see how the mechanic worked. The scrubs' salary totaled $6.25m so 250,000 more than Schneider's contract. I was told that I needed the ducks to add more to the trade because the trade would drop me below the salary floor.
