OOTP flickers a black screen

If I play too long, OOTP flickers with a black screen as I move the mouse and eventually turns straight to black, so I have to use the task-manager to exit. I would screenshot but you'd just see literally all-black, likewise it happens across saves.

I play in windowed mode but going full-screen didn't seem to make a difference.

Update: It just started flickering between the previous screen and the current one in a similar fashion. Could it be due to my laptop coming out of hibernation?

2nd update - apparently not, just related to length of play apparently

Is there a fix for this? It flickers as I move my mouse over "clickable" actions. It's quite disruptive to play!
