Player Retired going into Playoffs

There was a news article a few weeks before the season ended saying my catcher was not quite himself lately and when asked about it said he didn't want to talk about it. I thought maybe he didn't enjoy sharing time at his catcher position, so I went in made him an everyday starter, no more being subbed out every 5 days. My season just ended, and my team went 100-62 and made the Playoffs, and I received an email saying that player retired to pursue other interests, getting involved in his church, etc.

Has anyone ever seen a player retire right before the Playoffs started? I am disappointed my starting catcher can't wait, at most, another month to pursue his other interests!

If you don't like storylines, you can always turn them off. Game > Game Settings > Global Settings > Storylines (right hand side of page about halfway down). Uncheck the "Enable Storylines" box. On the other hand, people put a lot of work into those storylines. The choice is yours. It's your game, play it your way. I play with them off, but I respect the work that goes into creating them by people who volunteer their time to create them.

whether they put alot of work into shouldn't factor into the decision. use, don't use it, they aren't offended. there's no wrong way to play this game... even if you want all 250's on all players.

you can un-retire players, eh? if you do decide to turn it off, you can amend any recent similar storyline-caused retirement - i assume if retired too long they start to lose ratings quickly off an active roster (months-year, not days).

career ending injuries happen separate from storylines too, i'd guess. although i can't recall seeing one on my team anytime recently for some reason... mayabe they are not? lol... maybe tied toether or 2 factors with same end result? might want to check manual / then forums if you need more info. *i have a limited perspective on this - i'd only notice on my team.

You can't eliminate career ending injuries even if you eliminate them in the injuries.txt file in the database. You can cut down on them, but never eliminate them. They're part of the package that comes with injury setbacks.
