Can 40-man roster be edited?
A quick question. If I want to edit a team's 40-man roster in Commissioner mode, is there a way to do that? I'm looking to find a way to remove from the 40-man roster minor league players who are too young to be subject to the Rule 5 draft and have no chance of making it to the big leagues this year, but will be snapped up if placed on waivers. the problem is that they take up space on the 40-man roster unnecessarily, leaving no option to protect other players against being drafted. Thanks for any help here.

Yes, you can do it in commissioner mode by releasing the player and then editing him to be on your appropriate minor league team with a minor league contract. It must be done all in the same game day to keep the AI from having a shot at the player(s).

if you see some players remain on the 40-man after you dmp them, don't worry... the problem will alleviate itself (likely when you put them somewhere else, but if not... by the time you sim day)
i can't recall if that happens only at a certain time of year or some other prerequisite, but i have encountered it in the past. if concerned you can spot check for any large amounts of "misc. player expenses" with the teams you removed players from... if it does casue that.. change current contract $$ to "0" before sending to FA/somwhere else. |
