Historical Players In Custom League

Right now we can create a custom league with real players if we start in 2017. The program just links to teh 2017 DB. Would it be that hard to have the game link to the DB of teh current year we're playing? Say using the 1950 players in a league we start in 1950, and pulling in the rookies in each from each sucessive DB. Maybe just tell the program to generate fictional players if there's not enough players to populate the number of teams you're using.

I've also been wondering if this is possible. It doesn't seem like it would be too difficult to have in the game, similar to OOTP, but I'm no expert. This would make FHM infinitely more interesting.

Or alternatively tweak Historical Mode where we can vote on expansion, relocation and contraction?
