Scouting, Player evaluation, Trade settings, Player Development Setting-
Since I'm going to wait till the first patch might as well throw it out there now since everybody has their own way of playing and your veterans are normally the ones that piggyback off of. What is everyone going to use? Are they going with the old-school way of playing or have some guys come up with different combos that are different than what they are used to?

An overview comment, for what it's worth. This iteration of the game provides a great deal of information, some new, some presented in new ways, and available without a lot of work or navigating. That, in and of itself, lays out resources for decision-making that may, in fact, alter the way one has historically gone about business.

Mods, can we change the thread title to "The OOTP 19 Annual Settings Thread?"

Nothing wrong with your title. Besides, PSUColonel has a copyright on the other one.

Do you think just mirroring the settings from last year would work?

I really think the default is good across the board. The only change I might make (and I am debating this myself) is whether the player evaluation settings should be 55/25/15/5 as opposed to the default 65/20/15/5.
The one thing to realize for this version though, is that stats are automatically taken into account. (based on AI evaluation) The option to not allow this is not present in this version...so it may be beneficial to heavily weigh ratings just as the default does, so unlike in year's past, 65 percent towards ratings is probably spot on...but I admit I still like a little more stats evaluation, but I am still sorting this out for personal preference. Trading is good this year, I am seeing a lot more trades that make sense for the offering teams. Right now I am going on average difficulty unless I for some reason feel the need to up the difficulty to hard. Other than this, ratings being relative should be default (something I do recommend) and if it is not, I might change this setting. I still like realistic injuries, and I do employ realistic service time limits as well. Other than this most things are really personal preference but everything is working very well IMO. I use inflation from year to year, and I also change market sizes, but again, this is all personal preference and doesn't change or affect the way OOTP operates on a realistic level. I think the development and aging modifiers are spot on...thought I will want to see how that works with me upping the injuries to high, as normal (OOTP classic) is the default. |

Just wanted to correct your defaults: It's 65/20/10/5. :P

So I copied last year's trade, aging, and development settings. I'm using the default evaluation settings at: 65/20/10/5 since this year's game ties in stats into the calculation.

I think I want to go real MLB but erase all the league history and let it build from the current year forward.
What happens to the player ratings once you do this since they have no historical stats? My guess is they will be based entirely on ratings the first year? |

Anybody have a recommendation for player evaluation settings for stats only?

Yeah I'm trying to find the best settings to match. I used to go head into the game, but I'll probably wait an update or two before I start because every time I like the rosters I'm already too much into the game to start over. That's the beauty of this game so maybe if I wait a little longer to start I won't have to stop and reset even though most of the time you don't have to. I like roster changes here and there so I may wait, but I love getting the input from the guys on the board especially the veterans.
So, To the guys who have already played the game. Are you saying that the game is pretty good out of the box where we don’t have to make many setting changes? |
