Only Interested in Historical Seasons

I have never played OOTP sim game but the new version is what I've been looking for with regard to animations, player icons and stadiums.

However, I only care about playing games from 1871 to 1930.

Is there the same game play that I see posted on Youtube? Everyone seems to play the new season when they post. But do the historic seasons have the same animation, etc and true, historic ballparks?

Can I play a whole season manually?

The only Youtube videos I see of historic seasons show no game action, just a bunch of screens with stats.

Yes, the historical seasons have the same animation as the current day MLB.

You would need to download mods to provide facegen images for historical players and ballparks if you want something other than the one default provided.

You can play every game or simulate them as you wish.

What is a mod? Do ballparks from those eras come with the game or in the mod? Does the mod come with the game or is it something generated by gamers we download?

Frankly, all the managerial and drafting and salary stuff is way more than I want. I simply like season recreations.

The latter. You can find the historical ballparks in the mods forum. Soon, they will be available on the Add-ons Central server from within the game.

Pstricket will announce it at some point in a thread but if you are not active on the forums you can miss it. But you can download the parks thru Silvam's Mediafire. As you progress throughout history your park will change basically as it did IRL, you'll then just need to change the 3D part.

Historical facegen is available through add ons central.
I'm having problems finding the NA uniforms but i have them when you are ready.
Txranger also has great modernized versions of these in his retro thread but you might have to look for each individual jersey.

One final question: Is the game play based on actual player performance? I imagine it is--with all the graphs and managerial options.

As far as replay, it’s kind of like Strat o Matic or Action PC but the graphics is much better and the cost is much much more reasonable for historical play. You can also play with real picture of the historical players. Some prefer the face gen, some prefer the actual pictures. When you get the game and after you play around with it some, you will need to get familiar with the add on central which has a ton of stuff you can easily add to you league. You don’t have to search the internet for photos, stadiums, logos, etc..
