AI Trading
I'm wanting to play a league that mirrors, as closely as possible, MLB with real-life transactions. Is this possible? I've tried in the past but I can't turn off AI transactions.
Thanks, Mike |

Yes. Turn off trades in the settings, and then use the commissioner mode to make your own trades. You can either change the team that the player is on in the editor, or enable trades long enough to force your own. You will have to temporarily take over one of the teams to do the latter method, but it has the advantage of creating a transaction in the log.

Great thanks! Just to confirm when you say turn off trades is that the same under the settings as "SET ALL TEAMS NOT TO ALLOW AI ROSTER CHANGES?"

don't use that particular function except for very specific reasons.
it prevents EVERYTHING from working on it's own, lol. you'll end up with teams with only 2sp and limited RP and such. you'd have to do everything for every team set that way. for something more specific in nature like this, i'd just turn off trading in the settings -- League settings - options? rules? finances? maybe a settings tab under Global settings? the manual can aid the search, but probably faster to click and read the screen. i don't know where this 1 perticular setting is by rote, but i know it's easy to find when looking for it. i think you don't intend to manually do al the trades from RL, right? just mirror it in similar rationale? if not: you can make it weigh prospects more heavily or vets etc.. and increase decrease rate.. but the reaosnings and rationale you see in game won't change much outside of this... does it mirror RL? impossible to say with the naked eye and wihtout intense research of RL trades.. it functions is the best way i'd describe it without better knowledge of RL and OotP and more importantly likely important to AI roster management. if you don't control it and mimic real life, you should definiteyl leave this on, or change other settings so that it doesnt' impede roster building in a major way. maybe it causes excess pooling of talent on teams? maybe it doesnt? there are settings that can ameliorate any repercussions of no trading allowed. |

No. After your league is created, go to League Settings. On the Rules tab, uncheck the box that says "enable trading". |

maybe reduce it? what you want to do won't always be doable.. nothing will prevent teh players used in a future real transaction from still being on those teams... you might need to invovled 3+ teams and rearrange players in numerous ways due to these changes in personnell.
if you are open-minded about what you want to accomplish in this regard, no problem... but exactly whre they should be and in return for exactly whom they got.. not likely a realistic goal without intensive labors on your end. FWIW -- they typically release a august or september roster update after the trade deadline-- not sure if it's a volunteer thing or part of what they pay for from employees... so, i say "most years" just to cover my bases... but, it's a reasonable expectation given recent histrory of releases. i would think this can be an easy automated thing with the right sql statement and an updated repositories of team data.. bbref, or zips orwherver they get their source data from etc. |
