Rainouts in domed stadiums

I just had a rainout in Oakland. Is that a bug, or is it not possible to keep rainouts from occurring in domed stadiums?

The Oakland Coliseum does not have a dome.

Some would argue Oakland doesn’t have much of a stadium.

There have actually been occasions when real-life MLB games at domed stadiums have been postponed, although not directly related to rain soaking the field.

If memory serves, the Mariners were made homeless during the summer of 1994 when it starting raining roof tiles inside the old Kingdome.

Wouldn't that have been following an earthquake? So an earthquake delay.

When the Astrodome was first built it had natural grass. The moisture from the field combined with the air from the air conditioning actually caused it to form a weather system inside the dome. And the roof leaked all the time too. In one game fans were bringing umbrellas https://baseballstatsfanatic.wordpre...walkoff-homer/

No earthquake. Happened randomly when the players were on the field before a game. Apparently it had something to do with the city power washing the roof. Set off a 20 game road trip and almost ran the Mariners out of town.

Damn. I know they had an earthquake one season while a game. Tiles were falling off the ceiling then too.

The Mariners wanted to play at Cheney Stadium in Tacoma, but MLB didn't approve it. So they we're forced to go on the road.

In the 70s a game at the Astrodome was cancelled due to rain. There was so much flooding in the streets the teams (& fans) couldn't get to the dome.
Early in the Miller Park days a game was rained out when they couldn't get the roof to closed.

Had the strike not intervened, the Mariners would have ended up playing 30 consecutive games on the road.

i only said "think" because i didn't take time to look for real evidence.

it is a reptitive problem over the years.. not a 1-time thing.
