Creating a schedule - factor in time zones or no?
I'm creating a schedule for a worldwide league and I'm not sure whether to account for time zones.
If I want a game in Tokyo and New York to each start at 7:00 local time, do I put 1900 for each? Or would I put 0600 for Tokyo and 1900 for New York? Thanks. |

OOTP by default uses local times for game starts. However, depending on the start times and the geographical distribution, you might run into issues because of the international date line. For example, 8 pm in Los Angeles on April 6th is 12 noon in Tokyo on April 7th. This gets worse if you have teams in Australia and Hawaii.
I suspect OOTP works on the basis of discrete days, meaning all games set for a given date will be resolved regardless if the actual time difference between the cities would result in one of them being on the next date. But I don't know that for sure. |

just check an existing schedule file.. it shows the same time and no adjustments to time zone.
whether it's robust enough to handle what lgo is explaining won't affect the game. the starting date should control and handle this potential problem.. they have the abiity to avoid it for sure. |

What you can do to have all the teams in your league in the same time zone regardless of where the teams are located Is just go to the settings screen for each team and make sure that select exact city field is either none or blank. That will put that team in the eastern time zone which is the default for OOTP. So a 7:00 pm game in Tokyo or London would start at the same time as a 7:00 pm game in New York City.
This will have no effect on weather because that is set up separately. Hope that helps. Last edited by Shackdaddy; 04-07-2018 at 10:18 PM. |

This is no problem ... OOTP creates the games for a certain day.
Attached the schedule for a day where my day starts in Auckland, New Zealand and ends in Honolulu, Hawaii. I have set my local time zone (which is Central European Time here in Germany) The game times are 7 p.m. local time, but even a 1 p.m. start would put the Auckland-game at 2 a.m. and still would be on the same page
