Players Wanting Contracts more than Demands

Im finishing up my first offseason and I waited until end of spring to sign some relievers as I wanted the asking price to come down. Many big name relievers such as Andrew Miller are still available, with their salary demand being a very reasonable $3,000,000. However, when I go into negotiations he wants $18,000,000 and wont listen to anything less.

Is it a glitch that his salary demand is so inaccurate?

The "demand" listed is essentially their initial ask, or starting point. His actual demands will increase if there are teams bidding against each other. In this case he likely has a significant offer from another team.

I also see the reverse, usually with minimum wage demand guys whom, upon negotiating with, only ask for a minor league deal.

Likewise, when sorting draftees by salary, I'll not even bother with 'impossible' demand guys, but often choose a signable guy only to discover after dragging him into the draft box that he is impossible.

I've often wondered why that salary demand doesn't automatically update on the Offseason screen to current ask. You end up having to click through alot of free agents to find someone you can afford and can help your team.

Because I think it's supposed to reflect their public stance on how much they want $$$. While in truth, closed-door negotiations could mean that the figure is alot less.

I don't have a problem with the ones who will accept less, but the majority I've seen usually advertise for $4m but when you click on him, his current offer is $11m with 5 bidders. I'd say his public asking price should be higher than $4m at that point.
