Isnt my scoutind director the point man for the draft?
And who really cares about the assistant GMs advice on trades? |

You don't have to hire one but if you do you can set the AGM to take care of minor league promotions/demotions, signing international players, etc. I generally let the AGM take care of international players and signing minor league managers/coaches. Its also nice to get a bit of feedback on trades. The scouting director takes care of players in the draft.

I am just stating some of the things people use him for. Some people like him to do the call ups, Release players and handle the ticket prices and so on. Not saying he does a great job just what he can do...........Z

He does all the stuff I don't want to do. Like demotions/promotions in the minors, hire minor league staff, set ticket prices and the budget. All of that stuff bores me to tears and I am glad I have someone to pawn them off on.

I like to use the Asst. GM for setting budgets, ticket prices...minor league promotion and demotions...and international signings. I often ignore his advice in trades...i figure it's a gift if he agrees with me.

First off it has financial implications, you must pay them a salary
Second, there are some people wo do not like to micro-manage, you can turn over one/some or all of these Jobs to the Assistant GM on the Manager Options screen Active Roster moves Transactions Imitate/react to trades Drafting Setting Budgets Sign/Fire Team Personnel Sign/Fire Minor League Personnel Minor League promotion/demotion/strategy So in Short, he can do anything you can do if you would like them to, kinda like being your....assistant ![]() I always require GM's to have on in my online league just for the financial decision. I have no Idea if their ratings have any effect and AI teams do not have them, so unless you are allowing him to actually assist you, it may be best in a single player environment to ignore that all together. But when you become the GM of a team, the original GM becomes your assistant (MGR Gets fired if you are doing that job too), so it may be better to keep him just to prevent other teams from having him Hope this helps

Well, If there wasn't an assistant GM option available the forum would be flooded with post by people who don't want to do certain task (ie...micro managing every aspect) ![]()

yes, I notice his advice about trades just go with his likes and dislikes. Like if he favors vets over youth he will say yes to a vet you are after and if he favors youth he will tell you that it is not enough and you should ask for more like maybe a prospect..........Z

He also has the coffee already made when I get in, in the morning. Handy little guy to have around.

This isn't really meant as an answer to the original question, but on the subject of trades, I find that my assistant G.M.'s opinion can cause me to think through (and be more creative about) my trade offers. Now do I often ignore him and go ahead with a trade that he can't quite get the point of? Absolutely! And obviously when he says something like "great trade, boss" I know the other team isn't going to even come close to agreeing. But if I listen to him just a bit, often I find it nudges me towards asking for just a bit more (more money, a borderline prospect, etc.) and often I end up with a better (or possibly better) trade in the process. (And when he says, this could be okay as it stands but I'd ask for a bit more, maybe a prospect- or however the wording goes- and the other team is still saying yes, I know I've probably gotten about as good a deal as I can.) So, there's maybe one good thing (for me, at least) about having an assistant G.M.
