Starting Pitcher Fatigue
This is the second time I reached 2019 in my MLB Quickstart while managing minor league teams, and for whatever reason it's the second time that my starting pitchers - including 100% rested 12+ Stamina starting pitchers - are tiring out at 60 pitches instead of 90.
Does anyone have an explanation for why this could be happening, or am I just seeing ghosts? Are there league settings that correspond with starting pitchers tiring out at 60 that the game has inadvertently activated? I did not have this issue in the 2018 season while managing either Short Season A or Rookie League, but it reared its head managing Single A in 2019 (Midwest League). |

12/20? yeah should be able to get to ~100-106 before tired for sure (even with a bit of rounding errors)
you are playing the game and seeing them "slightly tired" at 60? or they get pulled? if being pulled that's different, of course. either related to performance or coach slider for "pull starter" or related to MiL Level SOP (stand. op. procedure etc). so, if it's not due to being tired, ignore what i say below about settings. it's how it works, try pitch counts to see if that forces them to go longer if it isn't fatigue related. i know there are some different SOPs in minors... they don't let SP go as long. think it's progressively ups their pitch count as you go up the chain... AAA - 90? maybe 100? someone posted recently with better info on this, so it's based on someone elses observations. stats and AI settings, make sure you select your minor league as opposed to the ML level. compare the settings related to SP stamina. one affects # of pitches, one setting affects size of rotation needed, ie recovery time. the dropdown for very low, low etc.. that's for rotation. the value setting should influence # of pitches before tired. Yup, they get tired at 60, and are dead tired (pitch-black, falling-out-of-the-scale exhausted) by 85. In this game I take up manager duties, so I pull them myself at that point.
Settings are "Low" for Starting Pitcher stamina throughout the minor leagues, and "Very Low" at Major League level, as is standard for the MLB game I believe. There don't seem to be issues in the majors; I see pitchers going to the standard 90 on good outings (and pulled earlier if they're getting shelled), though it's possible that it's happening there too and the AI is just working them past the limit.
