No Sound with DirectX 9.0

When I first ran the game, I had no sound, but heard around the net that sound does not work with DirectX 8. So I upgraded to 9, but I still have no sound.

Are there any other known issues? I have a SBLive 5.1. Windows XP.

Open up your sound mixer and mute Audio CD. Then see if you get any sound in the game. Don't forget to Un-mute Audio CD so you can hear audio cd's again...

I don't have a CD/DVD drive, so no Audio CD option. I've been looking at every sound setting possible and can't find anything that looks wrong or suspicious.
