Historical Minor Leagues

I'm starting a new historical league from 1901, which I've done multiple times. However, it's already 1905 and my reserve roster is at 76 players which is a lot higher than I remember in past leagues. My question is, at what years do minor leagues make their appearance and should I introduce them earlier?

They come in at 1919. Check out the historical forum, Tiger Fan has a handy guide for adding minor leagues earlier.
