Still working my way around the basics of the game

Had a couple questions, that may make me sound stupid, but I figured theres no better place to ask.

First off, the stars/overall dont matter as much as a players individual ratings (contact, power, avoid K's, etc.), or how they have performed in past simulated years, correct?

Also, is there a way to effect the development of prospects? Coaches/Scouts/Farm Director?

it's correlated to the ratings, but yes, looking at the individual ratings will better match a player to his intended role on your team.

if you have ai evaluation (a tab under game/global settngs), it is incorporating stats into the equation of overall. you'd have to check manual if that also includes the individual ratings, i'm not 100% sure anymore.

could get the coaches that have a "focus." it's difficult to guage a coaches ratings with no feedback. reputation is almost soley based on recent success. i do think the better rated coaches increase rep faster, but you'd have to wait for their contracts to end and keep tabs on them etc.. way too much effort.
