For Boston!
Hey Y'all,
In honor of finally picking up a copy of OOTP 19 on Steam this morning, I am starting a new thread. In this dynasty, I will try and get Boston to the World Series. It should be do-able as I am in the middle of football season here in Southern Germany and don't have a lot of time for Scouting / Stats Analysis and Budget payroll stuff ![]() Ownership Goals: 1) Sign Chris Sale to a 4 Year Extension 2) Reach the Playoffs this Season 3) Reach the World Series in the Next 4 Years Opening Day Lineups: SP - LHP Chris Sale RF - Mookie Betts LF - Andrew Benintendi 3B - Rafael Devers DH - J.D. Martinez CF - Jackie Bradley Jr. SS - Xander Bogaerts 1B - Hanley Ramirez 2B - Brock Holt C - Sandy Leon |

End of April Update
FOR BOSTON – End of April Update
Opening Day has come and gone, and the Boston Red Sox are seemingly firing on all cylinders. At the end of April, the Red Sox find themselves positioned on top of the AL East with a 22-6 (.786) record. All of this without longstanding superstar Second Baseman Dustin Pedroia manning the field. The Red Sox are 2 games in front of the New York Yankees who currently have a 20-8 (.714) record. The two behemoth ball clubs are already seeing separation from lesser teams such as the Toronto Blue Jays, Tampa Bay Rays and Baltimore Orioles. It looks like a 2 Man race for the Division at this point. Favorite Moment of April This is a new segment I would like to include in my Monthly Reports. While most games have been relatively one sided as the Red Sox provide a lot of firepower on a day to day basis, my favorite moment of April came on April 5th, 2018. The Boston Red Sox were tied up 6-6 in the 11th inning when Jackie Bradley Jr. enter the batters box. J.D. Martinez reached base on a 2-2 Single and Andrew Benintendi reached on 3-2 Base on Balls. Jackie Bradley hit a huge 3-Run HR with a total distance of 409 Feet off a 0-1 Fastball. This put the Red Sox up 9-6 in the Top of the 11th and was able to seal the win. This win help to start a 5-game winning streak including a 2-1 series win over the New York Yankees. However, Bradley has struggled at the plate since. Rusney Castillo Retires I do not know why this happened and unfortunately, I didn’t keep the E-mail (I tend to Delete them as I go). I remember he was a 1 or 1.5 star player who was signed until the 2020 season and was guaranteed way to much money. I apologize for not having more information. His Baseball-Reference profile says he is receiving 11.27 M per year until 2019 in which the team may choose to exercise its club option. Castillo Is currently playing in the Minors. If he were to make a comeback, he would earn $14.21 M in 2020. I don’t see it happening. For some reason I don’t see him on the Salaries list. If I understand correctly, if the player has been in the league for 10 years, they are eligible for a pension. Not sure how that works in the game. UTIL Player Blake Swihart will take his place on the 25 Man Roster until Dustin Pedroia is eligible to return to the starting lineup. Loss of Washington Nationals’ Executive Ted Lerner On 4/22/18, Ted Lerner (92), Owner of the Washington Nationals, passed away. Lerner purportedly passed away while on vacation. Lerner and Nationals GM Mike Rizzo were responsible for rebuilding the Washington Nationals from mediocracy and bringing in staples such as Bryce Harper, Max Scherzer, Ryan Zimmerman, Stephan Strasburg, Trea Turner, Anthony Rendon, Michael Taylor, Gio Gonzalez, and Tanner Roark. Furthermore, the team has been respectable as of late when compared to the former Expos franchise in Montreal. While I do not admit to knowing much about the Nationals in Real Life, I visited a Braves vs. Nationals game at the park and had a genuinely good time. He will be missed in this simulation. According to press speculation (in game), Lerner’s son Sean is said to be the next suitable Owner of the franchise. Sean is said to be an economizer and fiscally responsible while also being understanding. It is unclear how this will effect the Free Agency of Boston’s no.1 Target – Bryce Harper.
