Simple Coach Searching Change that'd Save So Much Headache
When you go to your personnel screen, click on an empty position to fill, and it takes you to the Staff Search Screen...
Please, please, please: can't the game assume that if my "Current Opportunity" is for my AAA team, can't the "Relationships" tab in the Coach Profile default to the AAA organization level? It's such a small, easy thing, but clicking on dozens or even hundreds of coaches, then clicking on the Relationships tab, and then not spacing out and remembering to change the drop-down menu to show me the relevant relationships/development... that extra click-drag-select takes a frustrating amount of time to do. It'd be such a nice little thing to have that default to the same "Current Opportunity" that I'm searching for. I know, I know, whining about clicking a drop-down menu, but I feel like it'd be a simple fix. Anyway, that's all I got! |

Nice!
And a much, much, much larger thing. Possibly ONLY show coaches/managers, etc., that would actually have an interest in that position (and level of org) and, again, not have to plow through dozens of people that "have no interest in..." for whatever reason. And I would hope/expect that may change the further into the off-season one gets, but at the moment you search, it would be great to only need to choose among interested candidates. |

I often see some great suggestions for the game on this forum, such as this one. Excellent idea - can you please post it in the suggestions forum where it's much more likely to be seen by the development team.
Thank you. http://www.ootpdevelopments.com/boar...lay.php?f=3866 |

FYI, if you use the "current opportunity" dropdown, then it will filter for only those coaches willing to accept the position. That was one of the main reasons to use that dropdown
![]() The other one should be do-able, too. It's not quite as easy as you think due to the way that we interact with opening coach profiles. But we should be able to find a way to handle that without annoying you in other cases too much with a profile opening to the wrong team, for example. |

No need to click the actual manager. That info needs to be searchable. It saves so much time. Now if you want to find coaches its around 10 mouse clicks per coach only to find out he is poor. You might have to search through 50 coaches to find some one with good development and relationships for your specific minor league systems. The amount of clicks raises exponentially. Especially if you are anal about it. I need at least an average rating in both or I am skipping. And if you really want to search for good or excellent it takes even longer. There are dozens of pages of coaches. |

I wholeheartedly agree with sentiments in this thread. I kind of get that having to hunt for good coaches makes it more of an interview process, but it’s tedious and doesn’t enhance the game experience.
For what it’s worth, I have had success sorting managers by contract demand, as the better managers tend to ask for more, but there are outliers. I still haven’t figured out how to check out the development ratings of a pitching or hitting coach that could be a manager. |

Further to my earlier comment/post Matt, this function is fantastic and does indeed filter. But, it only functions when the position is actually open. When you are seeking a potential "replacement" to a position that is occupied, the old way is appears the only way, unless I am missing something. Hence my comment (had to check after I got home from work). That said, the new dropdown filter is a huge leap!

But, you know, I figured it's a small-ish problem with a relatively simple (in concept, if not in execution) solution that would save lots of frustration. May as well pass along the idea. Cheers! |

Save game. Fire coach in question. Use Matt's method to search for a new one. If you find one you like better, make an offer and keep playing. If not, reload game from last save.

My suggestion would be to see if the game could be coded to simply ignore an occupied position and search exactly the same way it does now when the position is open? That way you could easily replace someone should a better candidate show up in the pool. Sounds simple. Might be harder than I imagine? |

Is there a way to filter by actual coach attributes like teach hitting, pitching, etc? Currently, the only way I can seem to do it is by going through the coaches one by one, opening the profile and clicking the editor. With trainers and scouts this is a thing. Why not for coaches?
