development parameter
Is there a parameter that influences how well a player develops? I am talking about the parameters that can be edited in the in game editor. I am wondering if whether a prospect who has 80 potential (on an 80 scale) develops into an 80/80 superstar or a 30/80 below average player is determined just be chance, coaches and play in the minors and majors or there is a parameter that has an influence in how likely a player is to reach his potential?
I have seen both situations where a potential superstar becomes a true superstar and the opposite where one goes into a player who is a borderline major leaguer (this was an international FA signed for a 10m bonus). Both developed in the same minor league system. Thank you. |

Sorry for the ridiculously late reply but my guess is work ethic would be the most telling rating.

There's nothing in the game that dictates with certainty, no. Things like Intelligence and Work Ethic give gentle nudges. But if you're looking for some rating that determines if a player develops or not, it doesn't exist.
If you take a game save, any young random decent prospect (say a 3.0 star guy), sim from the same copied save 20 times - sometimes he'll turn into an all-star several times over, other times he may never make the majors.
