Playing 1987. Will draft have 1988 players?

Except for iPad version, I haven't played since OOTP12, but I am back with OOTP20. I can't recall if the November draft will have real 1988 draftees or not -- and I can't recall if we still have to buy historical years, or they now come with the game. I seem to recall that when/if teams had to be purchased, it had to be done well before the draft. My game is mid-September. Any help would be much appreciated, of course.

Game includes all players/historical teams/players from about 1880 or so. Game now also has negro leagues and minor leagues included. If you start a regular MLB historical game in spring 1987 then near the end of the year you will have an amateur draft of players that made their MLB debut in 1988. Hope that helps.
