Stats wiped after cancelling an auction?

Hi,

I just cancelled an auction of 99 Willie Mays (because a cheaper one was put up), and it seems all of its historical stats were lost in the process (12 seasons worth.)
Is this perhaps a deliberate function (a way to 'mintify' cards) whose announcement I missed, or is it a bug?
Logging out and back in did not change anything.

I'm not concerned about the stats returning or not, just curious whether this is an actual technical issue.

this happens all the time they will be back after a simulation or two.
