I'm still trucking along. I've been looking for 100 Ozzie on the auction house for over a month to see if he does better than Boudreau. Decided to give the 90 a try after seeing him available for very cheap.
It looks like a lot more cards have been available on the AH recently, for the past couple weeks opening packs was super profitable since you could sell any live perfect for 35K+ and historical diamonds for 25% over all-time average, but that has changed now with so many people doing it. The only cards I really want now are TotD but I don't even know for sure if they are available in packs and they never come up on the AH, so just have to keep rolling the dice in tourneys. |

Newfound appreciation for staying in touch with my PT20 Frogs. As the PT21 Frogs are taking their lumps in a very whale-concentrated Diamond level, the PT20 Frogs are still quite capable of having success.
We continue to employ lefty cheese (2 or 3 weeks in a row now). We've got a slick 43-6 record and a pair of Direwolves in the division, neither one of which is Bandrezik's good version of the Direwolves. I feel like this might be a Game of Thrones thing, but I've never seen an episode of that show. The Cleburne Railroaders have the 2nd best record in the conference at 35-14. I don't want to accuse them of being a tanker (although I might vaguely remember this owner making a forum post about being a flagrant tanker), but 2 Iron titles, 2 Bronze titles, 2 Silver titles, 3 Gold titles, and 4 Diamond titles certainly has the look and feel of a fairly professional tanker. Going from 120 wins in Perfect one year to 14 wins the next and tanking all the way back down to Iron level from 2067-2071 is pretty interesting. Goes to show that the devs never really fixed/addressed this problem whatsoever in PT20 b/c people are still fattening their war chests to this very day. All tanking aside, I would predict a finals matchup of my Frogs with the Antarctica Penguins. They have a whale of a team and are pacing the other conference nicely.

I tend to get bored and make changes just because now. Switched TOTY Bregman with King Kelly at third base since Bregman constantly seemed to underperform at the plate. How bad could his defense really be?
Well I don't want to make conclusions from 20 games, but his fielding percentage is an absurd .800 lol. Even peak Pedro has been getting hit up. May need to rethink this one. |

And then when I get sick of watching 100 Boggs and SE Wheat on the bench, maybe I go back to no cheese at all.

The 'Glou are back up at Perfect level. 54-52, with a 1 1/2 game lead in our division. It was more but we just got swept by the next-closest team in the div. 0-4 start to August so far.
But it's Peak Pedro's turn on the mound first thing in the morning so we've got a good chance. He's also the reason we haven't lost 5 in a row yet this season. He's 18-3, with a 1.55 ERA and 175 strikeouts. Well on track for a second Triple Crown in 3 seasons. Finished the live Oakland mission last week and put Eddie Plank into the rotation, moving Dean Chance to the pen. Plank's ERA of 5.61 is more than a run above his FIP; our mediocre early-inning defense probably isn't helping his cause.

P456 Final Standings and Playoffs
Well, hello, there, pappyzan, my old friend.
Huntley has 2 ice-cold batters (Griffey Jr and Berra) and Kershaw got murderized in his last 2 starts, so the Red Raiders feel particularly vulnerable on the eve of this titanic clash. Will it be an all-pappyzan final in P456?

P456: Well, That Couldn't Have Been Any Closer
Huntley won the first 2. Pappyzan's $0 Senators won the next 2. In the fateful game 5, pappyzan's crew had a 2-1 with 2 outs in the bottom of the 9th.
And then...

Frogs sailed into the playoffs without difficulty. But, we were taken to the limit in the DS by a F2P Wild Card team. The overwhelming favorite in the other conference, the Antarctica Penguins, also had to survive a 5-game DS.
If the Penguins defeat the Bangers and the Frogs do the same with the Railroaders, then we'll have a particularly awkward and slow-moving, all-animal Final. The teams both won 130+ games and have a combined 29 PL titles. Game on.

P456: Good Luck, My Old Friend
Huntley took a 3-2 lead over the Rams back to Los Angeles but could not finish them off; Los Angeles took both home games to win the Sub-League Series in 7.
Good luck, pappyzan! |

No playoffs for the 'Glou in their first season back in Perfect. 80-82 finish, though Peak Pedro got himself another Triple Crown, going 25-6, with a 1.77 ERA and 256 strikeouts. My bet is that he'll win Cy Young and MVP for the third year in a row once the postseason wraps. The conference had another Peak Pedro who threatened to derail my Pedro's Triple Crown attempt but he eventually fell 10 strikeouts short. He wasn't close in the other categories.
The rest of my rotation was mud, but my bullpen was the best in the conference. We struggled to score runs, though, ranking near the bottom in pretty much every hitting category (4th-best base-runners though, woohoo yeah). I've put my ballpark factors back to neutral (they've been minimum homeruns for both RHP and LHP for ages) for next season. Not sure that's such a great idea but my observation is that lower homerun factors don't turn homerun balls into doubles or triples but into outs, so I want to see if that's true or not. That might mean I need to ditch 89OVR Eckersley as my closer in favor of someone with better movement but I'll see how the first couple months of the season go before making that decision.

And, of course, the quality of pappyzan's team goes without saying. I think he's closer to 30 PL titles than 20 at this point.

He was the difference between the Glou being a 68 or 69 win team and an 80-win team this season.

The Frogs added #16 to the trophy case after a hard-fought 7-game series against Antarctica. Came back from a 3-2 deficit to win games 6 and 7 on the road. GG to the Penguins--they have a mighty fine team.
Zack Wheat took home the MVP with a .372/.427/.614 36 HR 146 RBI campaign. The type of line that separates the Wheat from the chaff. Wheat led the league in hits, AVG, OBP, SLG, OPS, WAR, and ticket sales.
