Please, for the love of all that's holy, stop with the in-game popup ads

Look, I get it. Perfect Team is where the money's at. It's a big ol' Skinner box and those whales are generating piles of money for y'all. No judgment - the game itself is still very good, and those are voluntary transactions.

And it's super cool that OOTP is getting all this exposure from mainstream outlets desperate for something baseball-related to show the world. That's great, and a pretty far cry from 18 years ago when I learned that some German dude had created a career baseball simulator that looked pretty promising. Great work, all of you!

But when I click the box that says "don't show me this again," I don't mean:

- "Don't show me this again until the very next time I start up OOTP."
- "Don't show me this again, but by all means inundate me with pop-up ads about every little item you can think of that's OOTP-related - I probably wasn't serious about clicking that box anyway."
- "Don't show me this exact ad again, but I'd love to see about one of these every other day, advertising different Perfect Team promotions I have no interest in."
- "Actually, you know what? Go ahead and show me this exact ad again, but make it in like three weeks, when whatever Perfect Team crap you were promoting is now hopelessly out of date."

Can't we live and let live? I don't mind that Perfect Team exists and that the whales exist - hell, I play Perfect Team. (I love the tournaments.) But the thing is, I'm never going to be a whale no matter how many pop-up ads you show me. I'm just going to be an increasingly annoyed person, especially when you give me a button to stop this garbage and the garbage continues.

Just a little feedback from someone who's been playing this game for long enough that, if my OOTP career were a person, it'd be graduating from high school this year.

Yeah I don't think that setting about the pop ups is working anymore. Because I get still get the popups when launching the game still.

They aren't just for perfect team the popups either.

I'm pretty sure that box is meant only to clear that specific pop-up from appearing again, not all of them. If you want to disable all pop-ups go into your Settings and Disable the option to "Display Latest News from OOTP" under MISC.

Yeah that is the setting I don't think works anymore. Cause I have it disabled and I still get pop ups.

I dont think it was like that in XX so maybe its glitch/bug.

Hi! First of all, thank you for the feedback! I appreciate it.

I am concerned about you referencing Perfect Team pop-ups outside the world of Perfect Team. The system is configured to only show Perfect Team news (including pop-ups) only in Perfect Team. So if PT news is popping up in the 'main' game, that's a problem.

The only pop-ups that should be appearing in the main game are things like the Dream Bracket schedules, new OOTP Now podcasts, and patch notes. Is that different than your experience?

We want to make sure we keep people informed, and we certainly do not want to tick anyone off!

I can confirm that this is what I'm seeing.

Make sure you have the latest patch installed. When you set the "Show latest news from OOTP" (Settings dialog, MISC tab) as disabled, then you will no longer get popups when starting the game.

And in general, if people do not like the popup, they can disable them. Very simple. We will add a newsfeed to the entry screen in the future, so you do not miss anything when you have popups disabled.

Case closed.
