Help: Is my former minor league baseball playing coworker in the game?
I was wondering if a current user of OOTP 21 can do a quick search for me.
My colleague is a former minor league baseball player named Kai Tuomi. He was drafted in 2007 (40th round) by the Washington Nationals. I haven't played the game in nearly a decade (I play more FHM nowadays and don't really have time for two sims), but, I remember how in-depth and detailed OOTP was, even on the Single A and Rookie league levels. Can somebody do a quick search and let me know if he's in the game? I remember you can do searches of even retired players. If so, can you post a screenshot? Thanks! |

If he played in the minors, if you start a league in a season when he was playing, and you get the minors to go down as far as he was, then yes, he should be in there. Looking at his stat line, that looks like that would have to be 2007 or 2008 - it looks like he was cut from the Nationals’ system early in ‘08 and I’m not sure the game tracks independent minor leagues (yet).
He gave up a ton of hits and his ERA was pretty awful as a result but his FIP doesn’t look like it’d be too bad. I’m guessing that true prospects strike out like 15 guys per 9 innings in rookie ball but he seemed to do OK for himself and maybe if he’d been touted as something more than a 40th round pick he’d have been given a bit more of a chance...

Just to be able to say you exist in baseball-reference is an accomplishment to be proud of

He is listed as a fiance major. It is very possible that instead of being a minor league player in rookie ball from the 40th round that he found that he could make much more money by using his degree. A finance degree is a good one to have and opens a lot of doors. |

10/21/06 - signed with the Nationals organization (this would be when he imported into OOTP) 2007 - 53 games as the closer for the Harrisburg Senators of the AA Eastern League. He went 3-8 with 25 saves and a 5.60 ERA. 53 K's in 53 innings. 2008 - 9 games - all starts - with the Hagerstown Suns of single A Sally League, 2.65 ERA, 4-4 record... 40 games (five starts) with back with the AA Harrisburg Senators, 4-5 record, 2 saves, 4.63 ERA in 70 innings. 9/13/08 - retired (if you are using historical txns, even if you have Retire According to History disabled, OOTP forces retirements once players run out of real life stats-years, unfortunately). |
