Database Backup is Corrupted

I used OOTP 21 earlier today and backed it up when I was done. When I reopened it this afternoon, all of the players on the team's roster were incorrect. The schedule still shows the correct games that were played and who played in them, but everything is hosed in trying to go forward.

Anyone else experience this issue? This is the second season for this particular team so I would love to be able to correct it.

Thankfully, the restore worked, but still wondering why it happened in the first place.
