Why AI don't protect their star prospect?

Hello. I figure out that AI/Computer doesn't protect their future franchise prospect almost at all in offseason.

I have 3 examples:

My player was 3 star potential and Askarov is 5 star potential. Askarov is one of the most potential GK for a while.

Mercer is 4 star potential and Phillips is 2,5 star potential. Again, Lafneriere is prospect ranking 1.

Chromiak 2,5 star potential and Raymond is prospect ranking 3.

Why AI make that kind of ridiculous trades? Or can anyone say those was good trade from their team?

You dont see in the GM head. You dont know, what is he planning.

Trading system is always an issue. In every game.

Yeah there will always be stuff like that in AI games its tough. I just always try to play realistically and don't do a trade if I know there would be no chance of it in real life. Alot more satisfying winning when you know you didn't take advantage of the AI

Yeah I see the same thing in my games. On one hand I like it, because I feel like it emulates when players refuse to sign with a team or when a GM is being dumb, however it still is far too easy to acquire these players. I got a defenceman who had (I later checked after the trade because it was too lopsided for me to trust the star rating) 879 offensive potential and 853 defensive potential, for two seconds and an okay prospect. Like the man ended up a Norris finalist his rookie season and then won it 9 times in a row, the only reason it wasn't more is because I stopped playing the same. But I will always remember Burton Reynolds, he was an American too.
