True Interleague Play - effects on standings
Greetings, ladies and gents. A question for you...
I have an international league that I am setting up in a fictional country. (Modified the world_template.xml file to introduce it.) I would like to schedule a regular season series against a foreign league - in this case, the Hoofdklasse from the Netherlands. Their teams would visit my country and play a four-game series. Because these are regular season games, they would count in the standings in my league, expanding the schedule from 100 to 104 games. I will be using the scheduler to do this; that isn't too hard. What I want to make sure will not happen is: first, make sure that the Dutch teams do not then appear in my league standings, and second, make sure the Dutch teams are not eligible for my league's playoffs. I could set up a test league and just run it to see what happens, but that's a lot of setup and I was wondering if anyone out there knew the answer to this definitively before I started.

The only way that I can see you doing that is to make the Dutch league a sub-league along with your main league, in the same way that the NL and the AL are sub-leagues of MLB. The two leagues play interleague games but AL teams aren't eligible for the NL pennant and vice versa. It might be possible to do what you want to do by setting up an association, but someone with experience using associations would have to chime in - I don't know anything about them. |

Yes, like the WHA thing. And no, just setting up the games in the Scheduler actually does work. I'm just trying to figure out if it will affect the standings and playoffs.

Maybe I'm mistaken, but I dont think teams need to be in the same league to schedule a regular season game together.
In my save I had a scheduling issue where basically I had moved a AAA team from the PCL to the IL but forgot to change the schedule until they had already played two games. The games counted for their opponent still in the PCL, but not for the team I moved who was now in IL. I was able to schedule them against two independent league teams to make up the missing games. So long as you add the games in the schedule editor for the league you want them to count in, the games should count for record, stats, etc. in your team but not count at all for the Dutch teams.
