Hard to get missions accomplished at these prices!
Are there just less sellers now that the MLB season has been over for a while and less people are playing?
In trying to accomplish missions, many FOTF ones, there are either hardly any auctions running for required players or they're way over their average prices. Are we just talking supply/demand for these now driving prices up? I've seen a lot where the juice ain't worth the squeeze - spending thousands to get a silver FOTF mission complete just to get 2 gold packs or whatever. Thoughts? I'm thinking of just buying regular and gold packs whenever I get enough from league or tournament play and hoping for a lucky pull or two. |

Individual missions are a suckers play. Almost none of them return value on their own (besides the Live ones of course), so they are only worth it if you do all of them and get the set reward cards. You also want to plan out your strategy in advance so that you get the cards that overlap multiple collections.
The best way is never focusing on a single collection but rather buying up anything that is low priced when you see it and over time they will all start to fill in until you can target just a few cards. I would search for any historical silver and just buy all of the ones I didn't have that were under 600 PP or so. |

Also, the Auction House has a rhythm to it. When new missions/new cards are about to be released, things tighten up. Avoid chasing after cards that are in the latest missions once released...you'll get bent over the table pricewise. dkgo's advice is quite sound, but will require a bit more investment at times. That's not a bad thing.
Also remember—winning and generating maximum points are NOT the same goal, and are often at odds with one another. Have the stony patience of a serial killer at the Auction House, and remember Joe McCarthy's words..."You have to improve your club [even] if it means letting your own brother go."

I hear you, I definitely try to sell rather than buy when new missions come out, and there's plenty I'll never even try for. I don't try to get 100s everywhere, not what I'm looking for, but I'm never going to have 150,000 points to get a specific card so I have to improve my team in other ways. My best players aren't necessarily my highest rated - Ichiro (92) might be one of the best players on many players' teams and Edwin Diaz, somehow a 100 is absolutely terrible.
I get the historical packs when I can through the missions - it's how I got John McGraw and Miggy 9. I do try to get ones from multiple missions when I can - one of the Wade Boggs is pretty great. Ok I'm rambling, but just wondering if this happens every year or just a short-term wave. 1st year playing. |

I agree that this is really frustrating. Has it been like this all along, or have people gotten bored of PT21 and are just waiting for 22? I'm late to PT21 as I didn't enjoy PT20, but I love trying to complete the missions. Unfortunately, like the OP said, some of the "easier" missions are impossible to finish because you can't find the one card you need in packs or on the AH, and I'm finding it more difficult to find the silver cards than the gold ones. And yes, the price gauging is annoying, but I'd rather see that than never seeing the cards I need to finish missions, especially the silver and gold FOTFs.
