Question Recent Drafted Players, Going Unsigned and to Free Agency

After our most recent draft, we had a team not sign their draft picks.
All 5 players didn't go back to school and instead entered into Free Agency.

Just to be clear, this wasn't a case of signing and exhausting their DFA time, just not being signed.

So, the question is 1) is this a bug, or 2) some other reason that this happened?

It depends on their college status. If players are seniors and don't sign, then they'll automatically become free agents. Juniors should go back into the draft though, at least in theory.

One added component is that he was not offered a contract.
Does that make a difference.

If players are out of college eligibility that shouldn't matter, and now becomes a programming issue.
Think about this for a moment. I'm the #1 overall pick, out of college eligibility. If I sign I get slot. If I don't sign, I can pick the team I want to go with, and get a signing bonus X Amt larger than slot.

Logically, it doesn't make sense and would destroy the draft process.

According to MLB rules, if you don't offer a contract of at least 35% of the slot value (iirc, that might not be 100% accurate), that does make the player a free agent. So given what you specifically mentioned here, this is working exactly as it would in reality. A team can't draft a player (of any class, not just seniors), not offer them a contract and force that guy to go back into the next draft.
