Wish List
Greetings. As I enjoy OOTP 22 every bit as much (and even more than) OOTP 21 (my first experience with the franchise), I still come up with little ideas for enhancements (without any clue as to whether they would be hard/easy/impossible to engineer into the game). Probably others have had similar inspirations along the way. So, here, in no particular order, are mine. Note that I may be suggesting things that are already possible and included in the game. Forgive me, I've only been playing for a year now, and have not fully explored the possibilities. My spouse is a programmer. She calls it "user error".
![]() Given the desecration of the minor leagues by MLB, it would be great to be able to restore the original names (like International League) to the new geographical entities. Also, I have already found that my teams have an excess of players in the organization, so I am creating new short-season leagues to accommodate them. Feeling my way along in this process. Incidentally, I created a new franchise in the Atlantic League (owned by one of my sons, with the others as GM and field manager), because I have always been fascinated with independent leagues. To my delight, I have managed to fill the team with either minor leaguers I recall who washed out, or washed-up major leaguers, or those coming back from injury. The Hilton Head Island Loggerheads (who play home games in the Turtle Nest) have been a fun diversion. And I've had three players already signed by major league teams, receiving compensation for them. Here's a thought. When a pitcher comes up to bat (obviously, in the NL) late in the game while pitching a shutout, it would be great to hear the fans (even on the road, out of courtesy) give him a hearty round of applause. This is hilarious. The ask is that I have a way to voluntarily terminate a Spring Training game that is tied, when the teams are about to run out of players. ![]() As to Spring Training, it is unrealistic to have Arizona teams playing in Florida teams. Is there any way to realign the teams into Grapefruit and Cactus Leagues, obviously just for Spring Training? Also, for full realism, it would be great to schedule secondary "B" games for backup players. My Spring Training this year was abbreviated, as it started on March 23 when I downloaded the beta version. I'm sure there must be a way to back that up and get a full Spring Training. I hope this doesn't mean that my pitchers are unready for the regular season - not stretched out. The possibilities here are endless. Last night was the draft for my fantasy baseball head-to-head points league. We only carry seventeen players, but I would love to fill out the twelve rosters and then run the season in OOTP 22 game by game. Let me end with a question. If I choose to update stats for players in my 2021 league, does that literally mean that their performance will change, day to day, based on what/how they are doing in real life? I have not dared to choose this option. Is that how it works? What happens if a player gets hurt? Oh, one more thing. I listened to the latest OOTP podcast this morning, and I was struck by how relatively small the core group is that brings this amazing game to life. I have appreciated the personal touch that comes with customer service and support function. It really makes a difference, and feels like a family. A large family spread all over the world. |

A lot in that post but what do you mean by update stats? The Live Start option is a update of the rosters per that day but to use it means starting a new save - you can't bring that into an existing game.

Update Players Using Live Stats
[QUOTE=pgjocki;4761938]A lot in that post but what do you mean by update stats? The Live Start option is a update of the rosters per that day but to use it means starting a new save - you can't bring that into an existing game.
Under "Game Settings" in OOTP 22, "League Settings", "Functions" lists "Popular Functions" including "Update player ratings using live stats", which is described as "Updates all current player[s] ratings using up-to-date MLB stats from the 2021 Season". Sure sounds to me like that would update the player performance during the season by revising the ratings according to the season stats. Now, possibly this option can only be used before the OOTP season starts, thus making it like "Live Start", as you mention. I'm in preseason mode right now, so it may gray out once I start my season? |
