Invalid Database Version error
I posted this over on reddit forum but figured this is a better place.
I tried to bring up my game from last night and when I click on "Continue game", it says "Invalid Database Version" And when I tried "load game" it doesn't even show the game I saved last night. Quickstart is also empty. Anyone know what might have gone wrong? I have verified all the files thru the steam app and it said no issues. I've seen this same thread for older versions so I don't think the answers have helped this time either. Thanks |

I'm assuming you're the same person who posted on our forums, Reddit and posted on Steam. You only need to post once as we check everywhere. But;
It sounds like something possibly corrupted in the game file. Hopefully you didn't turn rolling saves off. Go into your save file (if you don't know how, start the game, click Settings, Troubleshooting, Open Customizable Data Folder, Click Saved Games. Click on the Game. In the folder there are 2 folders labelled as RS_One and RS_Two. I always recommend backing up your save too, so throw it on your desktop of the like. Then copy the contents from One and put it into the main part of the save and try reloading now. You may lose a bit of time but hopefully not the whole save. |

Thanks but unfortunately there is no rs_one or rs_two folders.
In fact there was just 5 folders and no .dat files anywhere in the game folder. Everything got wiped out somehow. I restarted the season and I just clicked on "clear A" button (under scouting/watchlist) and it crashed the game. When I tried loading it back, it started at pre-season even though the game had saved as I had played thru a month or so. That folder does have rs_one and rs_two. I copied all the files to the folder prior to that one but it still loads at preseason. I've copied some many things over and nothing seems to work. Should I just uninstall and reinstall at this point to ensure I didn't mess anything else up? |

Shouldn't need to uninstall, the damage will be limited to that one save. It's returning to the preseason because that was the time of the last rolling save.
(And we've been able to replicate the Clear A problem, that'll be fixed in the final update.) |

Thanks again. I thought for sure the autosave happened after preseason but maybe not.
What exactly do you mean by final update? The game won't be updated anymore after the next patch? Just wondering... |

It'll be the last large one that adds new features, but if there are any significant problems remaining after it, we usually will do additional hotfix updates as necessary. With the NHL presumably starting earlier than December next year, we'll need to begin development of FHM8 soon.

Also Getting Invalid Database Error
I am also getting an Invalid Database Error using my saved game and do not see the RS_1 or RS_2 folders. I do have several .dat files unlike the previous person. Am I doomed?

I couldn't get it fixed and ended up restarting. Luckily, I was only 1 season in just used it as a learning experience to get familiar with the game. Hopefully you can get yours fixed though. |
