Team Optiions

I am in my 3rd season of just basic me playing the computer as a GM/Manager. I have 2 players that have done well for me but they are old and not worth their contract. They have a team option for the year that I am in and a Player option for the next year. How do I decline the option as far as when can I do it and on what screen?

Also, once I do decline the team option do I have the ability to re-sign them at a lower rate or will they be mad and decline to negotiate?

If you're already past the Arbitration date I think the team option shouldn't work. But it might.

Try releasing the player. You'll get a screen about are you sure you want to do this blah blah blah and you're responsible for $x in payroll if you release him. The amount will tell you if you're able to exercise the option.

The day after the playoffs ahve ended, you will receive an email in your inbox asking you if you want to execute the option or void the extension. Respond to the email immediately and don't ignore it or the game will assume you'll execute your option.

You will have the ability to resign them at a lower rate once FA have filed, if they want to talk to you. Can't know for sure beforehand.
