New Financial System

Ran a couple of tests... Fist time I decided to set the annual & Monthly budgets myself. After the first month, (August 1st) there were not enough points to increase anything, so had to put all at the lowest level. This caused all my players moral to drop due to ("No Team Morale Spending").

Second test I decided to let my Assistant handle the finances. Same exact thing happened.

I also checked every other team in the league, same thing. The entire league is sad due to no team morale spending.

Will this change as the season progresses? This just seems very odd.

I found that its very hard to spend money in the off-season without bankrupting yourself because there's no money coming in. Once you start hosting games you get an income and it's manageable. The trick seems to be to save up enough over the year to leave enough for the off-season.

Mind you, not sure it matters if players are sad if they're not playing games yet?

The amount of starting money in the first season looks like it's a little too low, particularly if you're starting on July 1. We're going to increase that.

Thanks Jeff.

I'm in the middle of Nov and finally to a + number, so I have had player happiness at -5 for the first 2 months of the season. We won the Cup last season, this shouldn't happen.

I've just started my first save, same issue with having to set everything to zero or I couldn't proceed. Very confusing system going in blind and the manual wasnt a massive help tbh. I understand I'll have to build up the points but surely I should have had some sort of budget in place to do something positive to start off.

Hopefully it might make more sense when I get to set the annual myself.

First of all, many thanks for the fact that this business aspect of a franchise is also more appreciated. In the first saison it is probably better to not spend monthly too much for game promotions or scouting. This can be ramped up over the course of the season. It is also difficult in the beginning to have a feeling for how high the ticket prices can be for the market size and fan reputation especially since they cannot be corrected within the season. It is a little difficult at the beginning to get into the positive range but as of december of the first NHL saison, things are actually going very well.

I am curious to see what else can be expected in the future, top supplement for ticket prices of rivalries or playoff games, discounts in presaison, prices for saison ticket holders, revenue income for helmet writing additions or arena naming rights, invests in media or community appearances for better market size / fan interest or media coverage or what new possibilities there will be to expand facilities (arena, hall of fame, gym, medic center) and how that affects the development or the team and the franchise as a whole (maybe better medical facilities/staff means reduced frequency of injury and/or faster recovery processes).

Ran a 20 year sim and the points look out of whack. I was not in control of any team. Note this was a custom NHL/AHL/CHL league, not a standard save.

Just bumping an old thread after playing about 10 seasons (Historical) of FHM8.

Playing as the Blackhawks in the 70's, and as someone mentioned earlier the very starting budget (started on July 1st) in the first season was too low, and I had to click the lowest settings the first while to even get through the Monthly Budget since it was a deficit.

After about 10 seasons with a few cups, best attendance ,etc I've never been able to accumulate enough points to do anything with the annual budget. I've had multiple broadcast deals, etc, and typically spend about 8-12 points/month on Arena Operations / Game Promotion, and/or Morale. Typically don't spend on Scouting except for May / June.

As the season starts and game revenue comes in, I typically go from just below 100 points, and end up around 150-200 when the season concludes. However, as soon as July 1 comes, the owner just takes the majority of it (His Patience is High), and I have next to nothing again for the Annual Budget.. How can I ever get nearly enough points for any of the Capacity Options or constructing a new Arena?

Is this just the decade / historical era I'm in, or is it an issue with any historical starts / games? If I try any op the capacity options my annual budget goes to negative 150-200 and I can't proceed, even with all the monthly budget options turned to the lowest setting...

One other question, when changing the ticket price, the text on the annual screen doesn't change immediately, but I assume the price does go up or down on the backend in Historical and I see it the following year?

Thanks

This is why they added the new 'funding from the owner feature', (to make new arena construction possible). Please let us know if it isn't working.
