Cap space - What's happening here?

So currently trying to strike up a trade as the Ducks - with the Leafs.

I am initially trading 3 assets for 1 - getting feedback that the Leafs cant add that much salary to the payroll.

I then retain 50% of the contract and it says that they need to get some salary back as this would take them under the salary floor?

So with the salary retention - if I retain 5% or 10% then they cant take the salary and anything from 15% above they need salary back as it puts them below the floor?

I'm really not sure what to do!

Seems to be with any trade, this is the feedback I keep getting. I've checked Nashville's finances and they're fine!

That last message is actually intended for you -- i.e. it's your assistant GM letting you know that your team would be under the CAP if the trade were to go through. Which pretty much means you need to find another dance partner.

I had this happen to me a LOT until I finally figured it out.

I'm beyond stupid, yeah my cap is low. I hadnt realised that message was someone telling me about my own team, I just assumed that feedback during trades was always from the opposing GM!

Dude! ha ha, thank you for pointing it out, so ridiculous now I know. I thought that the left hand side was always used for feedback from the opposing GM so just didnt think.
