Retired Numbers Can't Be Used Even by Actual Player That Had the Number?

I've searched the forums to find that retired numbers can't be un-retired (which is dumb IMHO) as it can lead to issues.

One such issue that I've run into is when using historical players. For example, I've just added Derek Jeter to the New York Yankees and I can't give him #2. WTF?!

Is this a huge oversight with OOTP Baseball, or am I doing it wrong?

Any advice or a workaround is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

You can very easily unretire numbers in-game. One workaround I will often employ for guys who I want to honor, is to retire the number 0 and to stick all of the information in that particular text box (including multiple guys) until I'm ready to retire their number formally or if I want to use a number for a different guy but it's already retired by the game/team.

Could you tell me where I can find the setting to un-retire a number? I've looked for it but can't seem to find it.

Thanks so much for your help!
