So I just bought FHM8 a little while ago (a month I think) and I’ve been thoroughly enjoying running my own hockey leagues. But now I would like to try and get seriously into the managing part of FHM so I decided to start a new game and quickly signed with the Kitchener Rangers. Thing is, I don’t really know how any of this works. I mean I know the basis of hockey but I always feel like I’m not doing the right thing and assigning tactics and roles to every players and lines seem like a long task. I would be totally fine with it if I knew what I was doing lol. So, I’ve checked the manuals and everything but I would like to know from you guys if there’s any tips you have for me to understand and enjoy more thoroughly the managing side of the game. What are the better tactics, what are the better roles to use and etc. Should I try looking for advice or should I just do trial and error? I really don’t know what to do and I’m confused. I’ve already played one game and lost to a definitely inferior Erie Otters team and I’m scared I’m just too bad at the game. Sorry for the rambling but I would be very happy if anyone could help me.

There's always the option of assigning lines and tactics to the assistant (AI), temporarily to give you time to get comfortable with the game. FHM has a fairly steep learning curve and it can be a lot if you try to take it all in one bite.

You better of start with an NHL team as its a bit easier than managing in smaller leagues. Second start as GM only and let the head coach do lines and tactics, you just try to put together a team.
My personal favourite line composition is usually: Perimeter Shooter/Sniper - Two Way F - Playmaker/Setup Man Power Forward - Two Way F - Offensive Forward Counterattacking - Aggressive Forecheck - Grinder/Power Forward Grinder - Counterattacking - Grinder Two Way D - Quaterback Two Way D - Mobile D Shutdown D - Old School D |

Thanks for the advices guys!!! I’ll try a GM only game with the Kraken to try and familiarize myself more! The game does seem to be a lot to take in at first but I’m excited to learn more and get better.
