John Elway
Something I like to do when I play historicals is find former top prospects that didn't pan out, or got injured, etc and adjust their potential to see how an alternate history could have played out. I base the potential ratings off old scouting reports, college stats, minors or whatever else I can find. This time I did John Elway. I was able to find some scouting reports and coach statements. He also played 42 games for the Oneonta Yankees in 1982. OOTP is nice enough to provide a 162 game avg for those stats. Fielding ratings were some guess work. He had a cannon in the NFL so it makes sense he would in baseball. He was on a 162 game avg to steal 50 bases in the minors so some speed and range is implied. Anyway, this SS is how he's doing so far.

I want to say he missed his calling; but hard to compare with his NFL career, thus far. It’s a good start. How did he get from the Yanquis to the Sox?
My current effort is Jim Thorpe, who was signed to great fanfare by the NYG; but never really excelled in MLB. He should have been a perfect candidate for the Federal League, so I have signed him away to the Brooklyn TipTops. |

In one of my Rangers games in OOTP21 John Elway actually made it to the bigs as a platoon/utility guy without me having to intervene, altough I did have him in my minor league system for a bit. All around a decent player.
