Facegen problems - Most players have no picture

Hello, I am playing on a new M1 macbook pro and most players have no pictures at all. A couple randomly do have pictures. The previews show a black square. See below for images of players with no picture, player with picture, black square, and my facegen settings. I have tried force updating pictures to no avail.

May not be able to find all of them in here, but you should be able to find the vast majority (there are close to 50,000 of the suckers). Both Lillie, and Collado are available in this collection. First, go to this link, and follow the instructions:

I would key on the Full Pack Zip File, and the May 13, 2022-Present Zip File. Keep your fg_files folder, and rename it old fg_files, or something else that will distinguish it from the fg_files that ship with the game. That's just in case there's an fg_file in there that looks better than the one that the Historical FaceGen files give you. Then extract the files into your OOTP Baseball 23 fg_files folder.

Then, use this guy's signature to get a bunch more. For my money, he's the best on here, at doing them. Same thing, download, go into the zip file, and extract into the fg_files folder in your OOTP Baseball 23 folder. Lansdowne has MLB, and MiLB guys in there. In terms of order of operations:

1) Full Pack Zip
2) May 13, 2022-Present Zip
3) Lansdowne St Zip

The Full Pack Zip will be your foundation. Then, using the update will overwrite some files in that foundation that have been updated, since it was put out, and then allow Lansdowne St's work to overwrite, or add to what you already have. After that, you should be more than ready to go. You may have to start your game over, and make sure that everywhere that requires FaceGen to be turned on, is turned on (including the "Settings" on the start page when you load up OOTP23). Hope that works for you.

Hey thank you for your response. This is helpful, but I thought the game was supposed to FaceGen every player anyway? My issue is that almost nobody has pictures, even the big name players. Seemingly random players do have pictures, but most (and all staff) are blank.

Hmmm...You may have a setting off, that needs to be on. The game comes with 1,700 or so. This'll give you 50,000 to drown in. Lemme have a look, and see all the settings that need to be on, for you to get what you want. Be back shortly.

It should but... the problem is that many non modern players use the wrong id in the FG folder so the game won't load them.

This is a pain in the ass to correct this... since I got OOTP23 I'm in the process of redoing and changing the file ID for all the FGs (after all those months I'm just at the 1942 seasons).

I've updated the Master.csv file, with the correct BBRefMiLBIDs for each player, and uploaded it into my DB. When I see a player with a FaceGen that's not loading, or loading with a fake, constantly changing FaceGen, I check his in game MiLB ID. If it's different from what it should be, I check BB-ref for the proper ID, change it to that in the fg_files folder, and hit Auto-re-load picture, in the Picture Functions, on the player's Editor page. Works really well for me. Usually, an error in the ID is what's to blame for this. I think, in this case Slammer has missed a setting somewhere, so I'm going to upload a couple of pics of settings, so we can get him back on track. I'll know better once he's seen the pics, what the issue is.

Also, please check the player's editor page. The Historical Minors ID (ID that is highlighted on Jack Brohamer's page, here), must be in that format, or it won't work. Volunteers are working feverishly to get this stuff updated to where it should be, but it may still take a bit of time. You should be getting some sort of picture though, even if it's not the player's actual picture, because the ID isn't correct (either in game, or in the fg_files folder). The fact that you aren't, suggests to me, that you're missing a setting somewhere, and I'm hoping we can get that all ironed out for you.

Made sure my settings matched (I'm on 23 so they're slightly different), regenerated all faces and no change. Most players and staff have no pictures, a couple players randomly do.

I'm stumped. I have one more suggestion, as a Hail Mary. At Game Settings > Players & FaceGen > Player FaceGen Functions, hit the Generate New Player Pictures For League X. It's the one that warns that "this may take several minutes!". Other than that, I have no idea, unless something in your DB IDs that create the FaceGens is wonked, which is above my pay grade, as they say.

Unfortunately this hasn't worked either. Hopefully the devs can address this because it seems to be a problem on all M1 macs.

Slammer, what's your path to your photos folder? I know I'm a PC guy, and you're a Mac guy, but it should end in:

Out of the Park Developments\OOTP Baseball 23\photos

I know you're not using photos. I'm not either, but that's the end part of my path on:

Game Settings > Database > This game uses the photo folder

Somebody else on the Mods forum had had it set up to:

Out of the Park Developments\OOTP Baseball 23\data\photos

for some reason, and couldn't get their photos either, so I'm just wondering if the same thing applies to FaceGens. Worth a shot anyway.
