Live Rating Failed

I am unable to update the live stats rating.
If I start a game from any date after April from a custom league, I can update the rating, but if I start the game from the game date March 9, it says update failed and the rating cannot be updated.
I really want to start the game from March with the current live stats rating reflected, so could you please tell me how to deal with this? If any developers are seeing this, please help.
In the previous game, ootp22, the live stats rating was always reflected because it was recognized in the xml file.
By the way, it's the Steam version and the update is the latest version.

If you want to start a game from the beginning, but with ratings updated, you need to use the custom setup, select the current date for live start, but choose to not update standings.

I tried it as you said, and sure enough, the roster changed and it was in March.
However, the rating remained the default and was not updated.
What should I do?

I can't choose a live start after November 30th

Hey Hiya,

So you just need to select Nov 30th to get the latest player ratings. It doesn't have to be the exact date in real life used in the live start settings to at least reflect the latest live start updates.
However, I am reviewing that setup to make sure that's working at the moment. Something about the player ratings are not updating correctly when you don't include the standings update. And after you start up it's failing to allow you to update players' ratings so I'll work with the team to review that and see what happening.

Whenever I select Update Player Ratings Using Live Stats I still get an update failed error as it tries to download playing_season_individual.csv

Hey Hiya,

So we do have a fix to get you the live start update for players without having to use the latest start date and force the regular season to be already over. So while this fix isn't easy it will get what you're looking to accomplish done while we see if there's an easier way for us to do this with our systems.

Alright so to make this work we will have 2 parts. The first step is to go and create the exact setup Matt described above. Make a custom game, choose MLB as the league, and use the live start option but don't let the standings update. You can let the game create the live start and then after it's created we will do part 2 to let us update the live ratings.

So the first thing we want to do is navigate to the main menu, go to settings, and on the settings tab go to troubleshooting and select Open Folder Containing OOTP Executable. That should take you to your OOTP 23 install folder and we want to go to data>live_start and inside of that folder we need to change the name of one of the zip folders. Preferrably the chadwick_data_2022_11_30 if you have that one. We need to change the date at the end of that folder name to match the day's date you're doing this. That will make the game use that folder when updating live ratings and it won't give you any errors.

Now you can do these steps backwards as well. Make the change to the zip and then create the live start and players will update correctly. If they don't you can then go into the league settings and manually update to live ratings through stats.

Let me know if that helps you get that setup and if there are any issues.

I implemented it as written and it updated successfully with no errors.
I also tried it with quick start and it worked.

I am finally going to be able to enjoy playing the game.

I'm trying to use the above fix to get updated player ratings but it gives an instant 'update failed' error message

Hey @gay_swimmer,

As long as you're version of OOTP is the latest one we have released that should fix the live update issues that you are seeing. So if you are a FastSpring (directly from us) user please make sure to download and install the latest patch of OOTP 23.
