Pinch hitting, AI Management

My star prospect unfortunately suffers from I'm a left handed hitter syndrome, and his splits are unsalvageable.

For this reason I am benching him against LHP.

I was curious however how the pinch hitting mechanic works in '23, if my v LHP lineup is in the game due to the a lefty starting the game, and a right handed relief pitcher were to come into the game in the 8th, would the game then process my pinch hitters from my v RHP lineup? Or would it continue to use the v LHP lineup?

It is going to process pinch-hitters based on the handedness of the pitcher currently on the mound.

My understanding has always been the opposite, that it looks at the PH list for the starter as a guide.

When asking the AI to set depth charts, I've never seen them include platoon bats in the PH list for the side they start against.
