If it's not too late for a small ask...widgets

I raised this when 23 first came out, but thought it might be worth trying again. I don't know how often this happens to other people, but my in-game widgets will jump/disappear quite often when I click (or I guess try to click) the little + or - icons when warming up a pitcher or making a substitution.

As a hopefully small quality of life feature, could there be an option to "lock" your widgets in place so you don't move them by mistake?

While, I'm here... another request I have is the ability to have a few presets for the widget layouts. I play on both my laptop screen as well as a larger monitor when at my desk. I'd love to be able to easily switch between different layouts based on my screen size or resolution.

Thanks! Can't wait for 24!

Not sure if this is the same thing you are talking about. Playing in classic view, sometimes the widget disappears, I go to configure widget and select automatic set up and then they are back on screen.

I use the modern view. I can get the widgets back by clicking automatically setup, reset, or by toggling them off and on again... but then I have to move them around and expand/collapse them again. I wish auto setup was a bit better. I have plenty of screen real estate, but it still keeps most widgets collapsed.

I've tried recording a video of the behavior, but of course when I'm recording it doesn't happen.

Yep, there's an annoying glitch with the widgets not responding properly, I am surprised it wasn't fixed in OOTP23 but sure hope Markus can fix this for the new version.

Maybe version specific? I'm on Steam\PC and have not had this happen.

My only issue is the game doesn't remember where the "weather\park factor" widget goes, so I have open and set it before every game. I believe this one is universal to all versions?

Saving different layouts would be a nice addition.

Yes, I've noticed the weather issue too.

I play on Mac FastSpring now, but have also seen this on Windows FastSpring. I havne't tried Steam. Maybe that is it?

I'm no expert, I learn and do computer on the fly.

My best guess, and it's only a guess, is Mac vs. PC rather than Steam being a cause. Though it's totally possible Mac or PC has nothing to do with it. Could be something specific to your, and other's, computers. I only mentioned Steam to be specific on exactly what version of the game I have.

Maybe another user will come and say they have seen it on PC too? But I know Macs have had things like face-gen issues that PC never did, FWIW.

I just came in to report I haven't seen it on my pc version, and get confirmation on what version(s) users are seeing this on. It sounds very annoying, I hope you find a solution.

Yes, would be nice if the weather widget stayed where you put it.

Even nicer though would be varying winds. As it is, the wind never changes direction or mph during a game. This is not realistic.

Would also like to see some games with "swirling" winds. This is not uncommon with todays weather patterns. This one would probably be hard to program the ball to react properly though.

It's not just the weather widget and it's been like that for more than one version.

Just to clarify, you are on PC?

Thanks.

So that nixes Mac only for the issue. Good to know.

I'll throw out one more thing about my experience with the widgets.
Lets say I grabbed a widget and wanted to place it a quarter inch away from another. It invariably would not stick where I dropped it on the first try.

IOW....
Drag>drop>the widget "moves" "x" pixels left\right\up\or down and sticks. (not where I placed or want it)

Grab again>drag>drop> now it sticks in the right location. (at least most of the time the second try is successful)

I did find a way to get it to work right every time. Instead of putting the cursor anywhere on the widget, I started to grab it by one of the corners. I would fit the corner of the widget into one of the four right angles in the "T- cross" of the cursor, and I can now place the widgets "first time\every time" exactly where I want them. Seems strange, but whatever works.

I know it doesn't help if you have randomly moving or disappearing widgets but seemed, since we were on the subject, someone reading here might get some good out of it.

I will never click on a player in the Quickbox or the on screen lineup. It's a given it will cause the widget to go to sights unseen. I use 3D Classic most often and at least with this view you can click on a players on field label without any issues. If you play 2D Classic and do that you may never find that players label again. Been this way since at least 17.

Glad to see others with this problem too. It's been super frustrating. Maybe if we can keep the thread active enough the devs will see it.

NBATKA has Widgets on the side that include Tweets from Insiders and at Draft see Silver so maybe both in here.

I would add my vote to anchoring the weather widget. It's been a pet peeve for a while now. Was interested to read above that other widgets also act in this way. I haven't noticed the problem in any other widgets that I use, but there's several that I never turn on.

Okay... I decided to try to capture a video of this again. This time rather than hoping it happens while playing a game, I just opened and canceled the window over and over until it happened. In this case, it happened on the fourth attempt. You will see clicking the + to warm up a reliever makes the widget disappear.

I couldn't figure out a way to embed the video in the post, so here is a link to an unlisted Youtube upload.

Yeah,I get the weather issue too as well as the thing where if you click another widget the wrong way it drops behind the playing field (at least I assume that’s what happens; the game thinks it’s still there so you have to close it in the toolbar, reopen it, resize it, and move it back to where it was). I assume that’s some artifact of the UI but sure, it’d be nice to see it fixed.
